Meeting Unfelt Needs

The world can’t make up its mind.

The world tells the church to have only modern music AND only hymns.  The world tells the church to pacify disenfranchised women AND taylor our services for macho men.  The world tells the church to dance more AND dance less.

People are starving for the greatness of God.  But most of them would not give this diagnosis of their troubled lives.  The majesty of God is an unknown cure. There are far more popular perscriptions on the market, but the benefit of any other remedy is brief and shallow.

— John Piper,  The Supremacy of God in Preaching, preface.

God help us design services and build churches that meet this greatest of needs.
