I wrote this song after being inspired by George Herbert’s poetry. Specifically, his poem, the Sacrifice deeply inspired me. I read it for several years leading up to Holy Week.
This verse, in particular, jumped right off the page and into my spirit.
O all ye who passe by, behold and see;
Man stole the fruit, but I must climbe the tree;
The tree of life to all, but onely me:
Was ever grief like mine?
